A beauty

A Beauty is an original mixed media painting by Miami artist Jen Coello. A deeply textured ultramarine blue surface is interrupted by two sculptural rips, revealing fragments of handwritten words, color, and emotion concealed underneath.

The title challenges the viewer to consider where beauty truly exists. Is it found in the polished exterior, the imperfect layers beneath it, or in the courage to allow those hidden parts to be seen?

Part of Coello’s signature Rip Series, A Beauty explores vulnerability, identity, and the contrast between what we reveal and what we protect.
